Esoteric Order of Dagon

Happy Thanksgiving! (To those in the US. To those elsewhere… I don’t know lol) Finished the Esoteric Order of Dagon from HP Lovecraft’s ā€œShadow Over Innsmouthā€ story. This will be one of the many buildings I’m making for the Innsmouth board for the Cthulhu mythos skirmish game I’m working on for a couple of upcoming cons.

After searching high and low for something that resembled the old Mason Hall that was converted into the temple of Dagon from the story, I was starting to feel like I would probably just have to build my own. Then I found a great idea for using the TT Combat MDF kit for a sci fi gothic library which I stole from a creative You Tuber that had the same issue. Bob Innsmouth check out his cool Innsmouth builds here.

Assembly was pretty easy. I usually texture most mdf models, but this one I kind of used the paint to create a feeling of texture a I didn’t want to lose the details in the mdf. I did several layers of paint, numerous washes, added cracks in the stone with an xacto knife, added flock and foliage, made a Esoteric Order of Dagon sign and put some ā€œglassā€ on the windows and boarded up a few. Done. I may eventually do the inside, but right now calling it good.

You can’t beat natural light for photos, just ignore the big snowflakes that fell into the photo shoot! Coming up Deadman’s Hand game, Bolt Action, more Innsmouth etc…

I’m thankful for this hobby and those of you that actually take the time to look at the stuff I put out, even when it might not be your jam. Have a great holiday everyone.
