As promised a recap and photo dump of our Bolt Action game from AdeptiCon 2026. Our gaming club, Iron Dice Gaming decided to go very early war with this Bolt Action battle which we also played out with Chain of Command the next day – Battle of Hannut early war French vs. Germans. This was the largest tank battle the world had ever seen up to this point in history as the Germans rolled into Belgium and were challenged by a determined French defender. Hold the Line – Siege of Bastogne

This year I ran “Hold the Line – Siege of Bastogne” – for Bolt Action with the 101st holding the line in the Ardennes. I based it mostly on the scenario from the Battle of the Bulge campaign book. I purposely left the board 4×4 instead of 6×4 and fully covered in woods to really bring home the feeling of lack of visibility and confinement being in the frozen forest. A couple weeks back my buddy Doak and I tried out Victrix’s new skirmish game Pillage. I had played Saga before and its okay, but the board mechanics get a little too gamey for me sometimes and I feel the game swings way in the favor of anyone familiar with their army/ boards. Battle for Bastogne Part 2 of 2 – The Game

The American 101st Airborne, backed up by a small contingent of tank destroyers and Shermans valiantly defended the town from dug in foxholes in the woods and the crumbled buildings and farms at the edges of town.
