Showcase: Evan’s Winter American Force
Well, after the better part of a year slogging on it, the majority of my US winter force is complete. We used it in our games at Adepticon 2025, and now that that’s done and gone I had some time to take some nice pictures. Winter armies are always a little niche, as they end up more limiting than more generically based armies. Luckily for … Continue reading Showcase: Evan’s Winter American Force
Good Morning Vietnam! (Again)
I may have been quiet on here but rest assured I have been toiling away behind the scenes. We have some fun stuff developing in the Iron Dice Incubator (TM) not to mention the half dozen articles I have started in the past 3 week… stay tuned I suppose? Excitingly, in the past few weeks we hit 50,000 lifetime site views and we are closing … Continue reading Good Morning Vietnam! (Again)
Esoteric Order of Dagon
After searching high and low for something that resembled the old Mason Hall that was converted into the temple of Dagon from the story, I was starting to feel like I would probably just have to build my own. Then I found a great idea for using the TT Combat MDF kit for a sci fi gothic library. Continue reading Esoteric Order of Dagon
Bolt Action Italy – Defend the Pass
My buddy Blake and I played a Bolt Action game using Scenario 11: Little Saturn from the Case Blue Campaign book. We reskinned it to be where his Americans were attempting to take a pass somewhere in Italy 1943 by occupying two bunkers and a HQ. Continue reading Bolt Action Italy – Defend the Pass
Fending Off the Vikings – Drew’s First Game of Pillage
A couple weeks back my buddy Doak and I tried out Victrix’s new skirmish game Pillage. I had played Saga before and its okay, but the board mechanics get a little too gamey for me sometimes and I feel the game swings way in the favor of anyone familiar with their army/ boards. I will continue to play it since I bought everything for it, but it’s a different experience. I tried Raven’s Feast. Solid game, but a little too rules lite… So now it was on to Pillage. Continue reading Fending Off the Vikings – Drew’s First Game of Pillage

…whatcha got there?
Things are happening at the Iron Dice Thunderdome. If you get the reference you have our respect and sympathy (in equal measure). And yes, I’ve hit a nerd milestone. I have emailed a foreign government asking for photographs. Fingers crossed… Continue reading …whatcha got there?
Battle for Bastogne Part 2 of 2 – The Game
The American 101st Airborne, backed up by a small contingent of tank destroyers and Shermans valiantly defended the town from dug in foxholes in the woods and the crumbled buildings and farms at the edges of town. Breaking through the fog a motley collection of German forces lined up to make a big push and break the defender’s backs. Continue reading Battle for Bastogne Part 2 of 2 – The Game
Battle of Bastogne Table – Part 1 of 2 “Staged Pictures”
As promised this year’s big Battle of Bastogne table. Part 1 of 2- “Staged pictures”. Before we get to the “action” shots from the actual day of the game, I played around with a bunch of staged shots of the board before and after the game. Continue reading Battle of Bastogne Table – Part 1 of 2 “Staged Pictures”
The World War II Beer Sampler
Evan came to Wisconsin to visit me in early June this past summer. Early war Chain of Command and indulgence in some general tomfoolery were on the docket.
In town we have the local branch of a chain liquor store (maybe liquor paradise) called Total Wine and Liquor. We decided some libations were in order and promptly made a run to stock the drink refrigerator. Continue reading The World War II Beer Sampler
History to Hobby – Big Kitty: Rubicon King Tiger Review
The Rubicon Tiger II was a beast of a kit. I really enjoyed digging into the history of the vehicle and finding a way to paint it up. The build effort was worth it as I have a huge center piece for my late war German forces from Market Garden to the Ruhr. Continue reading History to Hobby – Big Kitty: Rubicon King Tiger Review
