It’s a nice fall Sunday and I think it’s time for a little update on the studio. We are still here and kicking and IDG isn’t going anywhere. Continue reading State of the Blog

This year I ran “Hold the Line – Siege of Bastogne” – for Bolt Action with the 101st holding the line in the Ardennes. I based it mostly on the scenario from the Battle of the Bulge campaign book. I purposely left the board 4×4 instead of 6×4 and fully covered in woods to really bring home the feeling of lack of visibility and confinement being in the frozen forest. Continue reading Hold the Line – Siege of Bastogne
Well the year is almost over and between the hectic atmosphere of the holidays and being sick for a week has certainly put a strain on my hobby time, but I have gotten a few things in. Preparing Innsmouth for TundraCon and Adepticon to run a Cthulhu/ Lovecraft inspired scenario for the Raid on Innsmouth. Between painting and crafting terrain as well as playtesting numerous … Continue reading A Very Cthulhu Christmas
After searching high and low for something that resembled the old Mason Hall that was converted into the temple of Dagon from the story, I was starting to feel like I would probably just have to build my own. Then I found a great idea for using the TT Combat MDF kit for a sci fi gothic library. Continue reading Esoteric Order of Dagon
My buddy Blake and I played a Bolt Action game using Scenario 11: Little Saturn from the Case Blue Campaign book. We reskinned it to be where his Americans were attempting to take a pass somewhere in Italy 1943 by occupying two bunkers and a HQ. Continue reading Bolt Action Italy – Defend the Pass
A couple weeks back my buddy Doak and I tried out Victrix’s new skirmish game Pillage. I had played Saga before and its okay, but the board mechanics get a little too gamey for me sometimes and I feel the game swings way in the favor of anyone familiar with their army/ boards. I will continue to play it since I bought everything for it, but it’s a different experience. I tried Raven’s Feast. Solid game, but a little too rules lite… So now it was on to Pillage. Continue reading Fending Off the Vikings – Drew’s First Game of Pillage
As promised this year’s big Battle of Bastogne table. Part 1 of 2- “Staged pictures”. Before we get to the “action” shots from the actual day of the game, I played around with a bunch of staged shots of the board before and after the game. Continue reading Battle of Bastogne Table – Part 1 of 2 “Staged Pictures”
A few weeks back my friend Doug and I played a game of Bolt Action. He had only played a few times a long time ago so we did a refresher/ learning game. We literally spent all day talking and only got through about 3 turns, yes you read that right lol.. oh well… it was a good time and now he’s a pro ready … Continue reading Bolt Action: Cherkassy, Ukraine – December 1943
As always it was fun seeing old friends, new friends and having some great conversations and laughs with gamers from all over. Our club Iron Dice Gaming hosted three games using my Battle of the Bulge board where we refought one of the early battle of Senonchamps during Battle of the Bulge. Continue reading Drew’s Adepticon – Part 1
In this scenario the commandos have been seen parachuting into enemy territory and the sentries are actively searching for them. The commando goal is to get 3 men off the German side of the table. The Germans are looking to take out 3 commandos. Continue reading Night Missions- First game of 02 Hundred Hours
