Dusty Throats and Broken Bodies

Got a little behind in posting, but here is the summary for Deadman’s Hand Scene 2- I didn’t take very good pics for this one, part 3 will be much better! If you’re just tuning in you can find Scene 1 – Whiskey for the Demons here!

Dead Man’s Hand Scene 2

Dusty Throats and Broken Bodies

The desperados have returned to Black Water Gulch in the Dakota Territories to continue causing trouble. The desperados eliminated lawmen Bobby Callahan with extreme prejudice days earlier nearly taking Tom Whitefeather with him. Whitefeather survived his injuries and came back more resolute than ever to bring the desperados to justice.

Scene 2 allowed for each side to have dudes with a reputation of up to 8 total with no one character having greater than 3 rep. The setting would be the same as the last scene with the outlaws creeping throughout Black Water Gulch attempting to draw the lawmen out. I like the fact each scene builds up. There was aherd of horses in the street, but unfortunately there was no coll stampede. They just sat there for the whole game!

Start of the game. The horse herd remained still

The desperados would consist of Sam Winthrop, who un-alived Callahan in scene 1, the axe wielding Johnny English, Buck Grimes and Clive “Nuggets” Harrison. The lawmen would be down a man due to Callahan being out and the requirement of 3 reputation or lower. They would consist of gambler Tom Whitefeather, young Gilbert Billings, and the brash Sister Sara.

Nuggets called out to Whitefeather who came out of the Sheriff’s office to investigate the ruckus on the street while Sister Sara was moving around the back of the saloon along with Billings to back up Whitefeather. It was a trap set by the desperados. Johnny English and Winthrop moved up from down the street while Buck waited silently in the tree line at the road junction. The fight was on.

In a flash of great die rolling and better cards I had learned my lesson from last game in holding onto and dying with my unused cards and blew most of them right away.

Whitefeather took Nuggets down mid insult. Sister Sara got a lucky shot and got the drop on Buck who was waiting to snipe them from the tree line. Suddenly it was no longer 4 desperados vs. 3 lawmen but 3 lawmen vs. 2 desperados. The firefight continued as Sister Sara jumped through the back window of the saloon and made her way to the front window. There she spied Johnny English and took him down as well. Rockstar nun. Who would’ve thought.

Some of the details escaped me but I believe it only lasted three turns. The bad guys bottled out after failing their Big Nerve Test. The final showdown with Scene 3- We Take Them At Dawn coming up.
