Intro of New Guy – BLKOUT Project

Hey everyone, my name is Josh. I have been in the hobby for a year (based on my Amazon order history of when I ordered my first miniature box).

Over the last year I have made a bunch of new friends, and discovered a very cathartic hobby that I wish I had delved into years ago. In an apparent attempt to make up for lost time, the past year has seen me accumulate significant amounts of four separate armies, and dabbled in three more.

One thing I have been looking for is a common game for Ben and I to play, as he has been one of the people who has helped a ton in my development in the hobby, and has tolerated a myriad of questions on all sorts of topics over the last year.

He pointed out one such game that was at Adepticon this year, that he, I, seemingly most of the people who are a part of Iron Dice, and several other of my friends all decided to pick up. The game in question: BLKOUT

I was invited by Ben to contribute to the blog, specifically to detail my experience with delving into, building, painting, and playing this new game. My goal in building and painting these will be to create a high quality outcome, but in a short period of time so I can get to playing the game. This will mean the use of speed paints as a base, and then I will utilize more conventional acrylic to highlight various aspects of the models.

For now I will give you a preview of what I picked up at adoption. In addition, I ordered directly from their site the Task Force Boone Recon team.

  1. I hadn’t heard of this game, Josh, so it will be good to watch your progress! 🙂 You do know that it’s a big hobby rabbit hole don’t you? Once you start you can never stop or find your way back out! 😉 I’ve been trying to for decades and am still trapped (thankfully)!

    1. Oh yes. Things have escalated quickly here. My primary focus is the game-that-shall-not-be-named, and whose maker totally doesn’t rhyme with James Quirkshop. This is my first real foray into anything they don’t make.
