The IDG Gang Goes to Adepticon

The week of Adepticon is upon us! Our apologies for it being a little quiet around here as we get things all set for this week. Don’t fret, we have articles that are nearing completion. Drew, Evan, Anthony, Teddy, and I have been making our final preparations for the four events we are running.

All of our games are at the Hyatt Regency so if your Adepticon travels take you there stop by and say hi. I even heard Teddy has coins in his pockets and if you tickle him they will fall out. Actually maybe it’s Iron Dice Gaming Dice… and I’m sure we will have a cooler if you like adult beverages!

Me if one of our readers stops by to say hi

We kick off our Adepticon 2024 weekend with a six player game of Bolt Action in the ruins around the massive Stalingrad Grain Elevator. Drew and I have been furiously building the board and testing the scenario. We have found a scenario we are really happy with and had a blast playing. Bolt Action Stalingrad: The Concrete Monolith starts at noon on Thursday and runs till 4pm. We are honored to have a full attendee list and even 8 (!) people on the waitlist.

Friday sees Evan marshaling pilots for a cut throat game of late war pacific Bag the Hun. Set on March 19, 1945 the elite Japanese 343rd Kokutai are out for American fighter pilot blood. They have laid a trap for the veteran US Navy VBF-17 pilots. Refighting what one US pilot recalled as a “… Giant Hornet’s Nest” it is bound to be a barroom fight of a furball. Last Rays of the Rising Sun runs from 10am to 2pm.

Saturday is an Iron Dice double header, Eastern Front Lard Style. First up at 10am is Red Stars Over the Volga a Bag the Hun scenario set on the approaches to Stalingrad. German medium bombers and dive bombers are enroute to pummel the Soviet ground forces near one of the city’s largest remaining structures, the Grain Elevator. Soviet Yak-9s have been scrambled but can they blunt the German hammer blow or will they be easy pickings for the escorting BF-109s?

The second course of Saturday’s IDG lard is Chain of Command Stalingrad: The Concrete Monolith. Set in the ruins of the Grain Elevator complex six players, three per side, are signed up to fight over the Soviet strong point. Soviet rifle and a submachine gun platoons defend the strategically important building against German grenadier and pioneer platoons. If this engagement stays true to the real life events it will be a knock down drag out fight for both sides.

We are very excited for our first year of events and hope to see some of you there. If we are trying to Beat Boggs feel free to join in.
