…whatcha got there?
Things are happening at the Iron Dice Thunderdome. If you get the reference you have our respect and sympathy (in equal measure). And yes, I’ve hit a nerd milestone. I have emailed a foreign government asking for photographs. Fingers crossed… Continue reading …whatcha got there?
Battle for Bastogne Part 2 of 2 – The Game
The American 101st Airborne, backed up by a small contingent of tank destroyers and Shermans valiantly defended the town from dug in foxholes in the woods and the crumbled buildings and farms at the edges of town. Breaking through the fog a motley collection of German forces lined up to make a big push and break the defender’s backs. Continue reading Battle for Bastogne Part 2 of 2 – The Game
Battle of Bastogne Table – Part 1 of 2 “Staged Pictures”
As promised this year’s big Battle of Bastogne table. Part 1 of 2- “Staged pictures”. Before we get to the “action” shots from the actual day of the game, I played around with a bunch of staged shots of the board before and after the game. The World War II Beer Sampler
Evan came to Wisconsin to visit me in early June this past summer. Early war Chain of Command and indulgence in some general tomfoolery were on the docket.
In town we have the local branch of a chain liquor store (maybe liquor paradise) called Total Wine and Liquor. We decided some libations were in order and promptly made a run to stock the drink refrigerator. Continue reading The World War II Beer Sampler
History to Hobby – Big Kitty: Rubicon King Tiger Review
The Rubicon Tiger II was a beast of a kit. I really enjoyed digging into the history of the vehicle and finding a way to paint it up. The build effort was worth it as I have a huge center piece for my late war German forces from Market Garden to the Ruhr. Continue reading History to Hobby – Big Kitty: Rubicon King Tiger Review
A Dive to the Underhive
This is going to be a short blurb of an article. Maybe a quick hobby update and an “oh boy” moment more than anything else. We have all played Games Workshop games. It’s pert near a rite of passage for tabletop gamers from the 1980s onward. While I don’t agree with the price of entry and rules churn I do appreciate their models and the … Continue reading A Dive to the Underhive
Bolt Action: Cherkassy, Ukraine – December 1943
A few weeks back my friend Doug and I played a game of Bolt Action. He had only played a few times a long time ago so we did a refresher/ learning game. We literally spent all day talking and only got through about 3 turns, yes you read that right lol.. oh well… it was a good time and now he’s a pro ready … Continue reading Bolt Action: Cherkassy, Ukraine – December 1943
Product Review: Red Grass Games Painter V2 Wet Pallette
I suppose it’s about time for another Iron Dice Product Review and I happened to pick up a product I find very useful, the Red Grass Games Painter V2 Everlasting Wet Palette. How serendipitous. For those uninitiated, a wet palette is a surface to mix and stage your acrylic paints and washes prior to putting them onto what you’re painting. The surface is typically made … Continue reading Product Review: Red Grass Games Painter V2 Wet Pallette
Product Review: Muddy Paws Terrain Poly Sand Basing
Making my start into historical minis of course led to going down the Youtube rabbit hole, and resulted in subscriptions to a couple new channels. One of those channels was the Storm of Steel Wargaming channel. Link here. With the Warlord Curahee set and the Space Wolves Army box both in my pile of potential, I set out to find good, realistic, QUICK basing options. … Continue reading Product Review: Muddy Paws Terrain Poly Sand Basing
