Brush & Sand Part: 4

Ok it’s been a minute. Deployment was a bit more of a challenge than I anticipated. Meetings by day and directing work crews by night. Very little painting got done and I lost interest as Warlord Games released a new US Airborne kit and Colonel Muller released really nice STL for US Airborne. What can I say, I’m a model snob.

As soon as I returned to the US (February 2025) I immediately got the wife pregnant, started working on the shop, the e-commerce site, a second store, warehouse for the e-commerce site, and printing a new US Airborne army. After I printed all the STLs I noticed if I added a few of the new WLG plastics I would have two full D-Day Airborne platoons, just over 100 figures.

Once I cleaned up the prints, I used a heavy-duty hole punch to make some 1mm thick discs and glued them to the feet of the figures. I glued the figures to their bases then added ground texture. I feel like this extra step was worth it for really good adhesion of the figure to the base and the figure wouldn’t look like it was sunk into the ground when I add flock. Most of the photos show the basing process on my paint test figures.

I am still wrestling on the final paint recipe and waiting for the book “Easy Company in Normandy” from a Kickstarter Campaign.

Currently I am going to work on a side quest for my US regulars in a heavy mortar, T-66 rocket launcher, and a 75mm PACK howitzer. Should go fast as these fellows have very little in the way of equipment details to pick out. Still it’s hard to stay focused with a friend like Ben who keeps introducing me to new game systems (Editor Ben note: Sorry, not sorry.)

I am off to a new to me continent for a bit. I’m not trying to hit them all but it seems to be going in that direction.
